BREAKING NEWS: Could Manalapan’s Mayor Andy Boy "Land" in Big Trouble????

You have to remember that it was daTruthSquad that first said when da GOP’ers took da unwritten alliance they had between Andy Boy and da Queen and smacked da Queen over her head with it, it would only be a matter of time before da Queen would go to a friendly former Mayor and borrow a shovel to dig up skeletons Andy Boy had hanging in his closet.

Welcome to “Payback – Cadre Style!”

In a potential case that could have more twists and turns and could potentially make Manalapan da poster-child for corruption in Monmouth County politics, da Asbury Park Press is looking into a land deal gone bizarre between a developer and Mayor Andy Boy. However, thanks to a blast of robo-calls alerting Manalapan residents to this deal, all of a sudden Andy Boy’s next election campaign may be in da Stockade Hilton.

Da “Land Deal Gone Bizarre” centers around a piece of land that Lord Andy Boy owns and wants to get into Farmland Preservation. Now, on da surface, that doesn’t sound like anything bad.

However, as daTruthSquad investigates this further, between da allegations and da excuses, da only thing daTruthSquad can say with absolute certainty is that there are are very good attorneys who have offices in Freehold, and he may need one of them.

ISSUE 1: DA PRICE OF DA LAND!

We’d be glad to tell you, but Andy Boy has refused thus far to tell people how much da land cost, except to say he paid da $42,000 in back taxes owed on da land - and we know that because da newspaper tells us!
According to da Asbury Park Press: “County land records do not show a sale price for the property” – despite da fact da land was purchased by Andy Boy “and his parents” back in MARCH!

Question – why hasn’t a land deal been placed into da public record EIGHT MONTHS after da alleged sale was made?

Oh, did daTruthSquad tell you da land in question has been assessed at ONE POINT THREE MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ISSUE 2: CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS EXCUSE?

When pressed by da newspaper, Manalapan Mayor Andy Boy blamed not one but two people! First, he blamed himself, saying he “always intended to disclose that he owned the property.” Then, he decided to blame da Queen for something he’s hip-deep involved in.

Let’s look at these excuses.

EXCUSE #1 – Andy Boy said he would have told us. When? After he is reelected? Why wait? Why hide this land deal gone bizarre? Why is there no record of da land cost? Did he ask da advice of fellow “Birds of a Feather” Lyin’ Ryan for a list of excuses he didn’t use, since he neither blamed himself nor da Queen for his “Disclosure-Gate” fiasco.

EXCUSE #2 – Apparently when in doubt, blame Michelle Roth. Da GOP’er blames da Democrat, saying “I think it is very unfortunate that Mrs. Roth and her partisan operatives would choose to cast aspersions when my family and I are actively fighting overdevelopment.” That’s a great excuse, however it does not explain how much $$$$$$$$$$$ he can potentially make on this land deal, even if it does go into farmland preservation.

Since it is becoming evident da Manalapan GOP’ers are running low on excuses, here’s a few they can use, courtesy of our TruthTellers:

1. “I didn’t release any information because I thought I gave the Township Clerk the information to review.” (forgot that was used by Lyin' Ryan)

2. “Da Queen is casting aspirations when my family and I are actively fighting overdevelopment.” (actually used this, but forgot he voted to build a “Mega-COAH-Low-Income” controversial housing project)

3. “Da dog catcher took my deed to da land.”
(forgot he was on da township committee that fired da town’s animal control guy)

4. This was da obvious fault of da Mosked Man, and we’ll file a lawsuit against him.” (We all know where dealing in court with da Mosked man gets mayors (Lucas) and former mayors (da Queen and King Shapiro)

5. “I’ll write an editorial to da Snoozer and put it in an email to have someone else send in to da Snoozer and have them explain my position.” (forgot that he was involved in “Email-Gate in 2005)

6. “It depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is.” (forgot that didn’t work too well for Bill Clinton)

7. “This is not my doing. This is da fault of da Great Satan.”
(unsure if he’s claiming this is a member of da Cadre, but using excuses from Mahmoud Ahmedinijad to justify what you did is never a good idea)

8. “This was da obvious fault of da Mosked Man, and we’ll file a lawsuit against him.” (forgot he already blamed da Mosked Man for this – obsess much?)

9. “I’m sure Manalapan Democratic candidates Beevis and Butthead are behind this.” (he forgot that they forgot that they are actually candidates in an election)

10. “This is not my fault. I called John Lynch and Sharpe James for advice.”
(never call for advice people who could potentially become your roommates)

DaTruth is, while da excuses are funny, this is a very serious situation. Whether Andy Boy voted or didn’t vote on this while on da township committee isn’t da point. What is da point is – here you have a sitting mayor who gets a HUGE TAX BREAK for owning a farm that grows soybeans and claims to be buying land for farmland preservation – but he cannot explain why there’s no actual sale price on da books in da county, and da fact he can expect to make a windfall of $$$$$$$$ on da sale of da land to farmland preservation!

Even da attorney for da state League of Municipalities is saying in not so many words that if this smells like corruption and looks like corruption that there may be some smoke and fire here! Matthew Weng says in da newspaper story that “he would advice an official to wait until they are out of office to enter into a for-profit deal with their town.”

Da situation here is da members of da Manalapan Township Committee, including members of his own party, had two other properties to choose from that could have been preserved as open space, but they instead voted for this one – and allegedly these votes came “after conversations in which Lucas was involved.”

DaTruth is, in this case there can be no option. Mayor Andy Boy may be left with two options. First, for da best of da Manalapan Republican Party he should resign immediately. If he is reelected (it’s not like anyone’s running against him), then da Manalapan GOP’er Grand Poobah can place someone in his seat next year. At da very worst, at da next meeting, da Manalapan Township Committee should order their township attorney to contact da Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office to open an investigation into this “land deal gone bizarre.”

While it is important to note that as of da writing of this blog da Manalapan mayor has not been accused and/or charged of any crime, it is clear that he can make a profit on this questionable land deal, there is an obvious issue of disclosure that needs to be addressed, and da timing of this could not be any worse. If da mayor were a true GOP’er, than he himself would order da investigation to clear his name if he isn’t guilty of a crime.

However, as da Queen made very clear in da newspaper story, “He manipulated da process and violated da public trust by not disclosing this at our meeting in order to line his own pockets.”

If da Queen is correct here, then both Mayor Andy Boy and Manalapan itself could potentially be in trouble. And, if da Queen's version of events are found to be accurate, this could put an end to Andy Boy's career politician political career.

And that’s daTruth.

Could this lead to Andy Boy winding up in jail like other corrupt NJ mayors?

If he gets to do the perp walk in handcuffs I think he'll look good in pink for the TV cameras.

BOOOOO Andrew!

It's the ghost of Joe Locricchio,
remember when you threw me under the bus? Well Karma's a bitch!

Get a good attorney to try to keep you out of jail.

The buzz up here in heaven is you made a deal years ago with the devil, bad move on your part.

Replace lowlife Andy Landcus with Joey D immediately to save the Republicans! Fatso Steve should have went with Joey D long ago!

This story is troubling in so many ways. It won't be sorted out before the election and it really makes the public question...what the heck is going on in town hall. At first glance this clearly stinks to the high heavens. What is revealed by the investigation may be the straw that breaks the camels back. The residents have had it with these hypocritical phonies.

All I can say if this is true I'm very disappointed in Andrew, I did vote for him last time but I won't this time. Disgusting Jersey politics at it's worst. First Lyin Ryan and now pee you Andrew. This stinks from holy hell.

F - Joey D, replace Andrew with Susan Cohen.

The U.S. Attorney for NJ was appointed by Obama, this could be his first indictment picking nup where Christie left off putting dirty politicians away.

Let's see how the Democratic candidates handle this hot potato during next Tuesday's debate.
This will seperate the men from the boys
(sorry no ladies running this year)
Will they have the gravitas to ask the tough questions..will Lucas be able to answer them or will his attorney instruct him not to discuss a matter that will most likely result in some type of investigation or future litigation ?

Anonymous said...

Good idea ! Susan Cohen should replace Lucas to save the ticket. But she probably wouldn't want it.
Who could blame her.

Gotta hand it to Da Truth Squad, it is beholden to no polical party. Da Squad exposes blunders committed by both sides. At times I thought Da Squad was pretty ruthless in it's editorials on the political hijinks
that have gone on in Manalapan. But overall I find it to be enlightening with it's often entertaining commentary on the very sad state of our local government.
The word is out, long live Da Truth.

If I ever knew the corruption in this town would be this bad I would have never moved here. I voted for Andrew before. Never again. The Asbury Park Press would have NEVER run a story like this if it weren't true. What a slimeball.

Spend $42,000 on land worth $1.3 million?

If I sell my soul and become a career politician can I get a deal like this too?

Andrew Lucas buying this property and making tons of money off it while he's in office is not a crime.

Lyin Ryan Green and his more than twice disclosure issues. That is not a crime.

Not being truthful about how you get taxpayer funded health benefits is not a crime.

Andrew Lucas powersharing with his once arch enemy Michelle Roth and Gerard Ward is not a crime.

The lawsuit they both started against Stu Moskovitz and the Truth Squad is not a crime.

Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money on those cases is not a crime.

What Michelle Roth tried to do to Chief Brown and using taxpayer money to do it is not a crime.

Year after year these politicians abusing the public trust is not a crime.

Even thinking they could get away with it isn't a crime.

However the Monmouth County Prosecutor and the State Attorney General and the FBI not investigating the corruption in Manalapan Town Hall - THAT IS A CRIME!

PLEASE! WHO DO WE HAVE TO BEG TO GET THE FEDS TO COME INTO MANALAPAN AND GET RID OF THE CORRUPTION IN TOWN HALL????????

The Manalapan Mole said...

I read on another blog not as good as this one that Larry Roth and Andrew Lucas became friends, and now he feels like their friendship was just an act. Congratulations Larry Roth for confirming what we suspected all along. There was indeed a power sharing plan between Roth and Lucas to keep power within themselves. If any Republican can vote for Andrew Lucas now then they have no morals, no values, no respect for what the Republican Party stands for, and no respect for themselves.

The Manalapan Mole has spoken.

Look, you didn't stand up when Lucas voted on a case he was part of, then, why would you think anyone cares if he buys some land and gets his friends to vote for him to make a quick million?

In the APP article it says if Lucus paid a fair price, my question is if he didn't pay a fair price and it's much lower doesn't that that smells of corruption, if convicted how many years can he get? What a shame if he misses his child's first day of kindergarden because Lucus is in jail. These politicians get into office for personal gain and if so the U.S. Attorney should see to it that soon to be former Mayor Lucus is put away away for a long time. It's time a strong message is sent to dirty politicians that the public won't tolerate this, zero tolerence for lying and dirty public officials.

Do you think now that Jordan Maskowitz is wondering what he's getting himself into?

Michelle points a finger at Mayor Lucas saying he has a serious lapse in ethics and she is always criticized for not playing well with others.

Both have done much to harm Manalapan. However I can't recall Roth, who has taken campaign money from developers ever doing anything as ethically shallow as this. Mayor Lucas knew what he was doing, and to show his cowardice he ran his wife nd parents under the bus saying that this must-be-investigated land grab is some type of family affair.

My "datruth" - He tried to manipulate the system for his own personal monetary gain. He got caught even if it is thanks to the newspaper and probably Roth too for all of Manalapan and New Jersey to see. He sacrificed his political future for money. I hope he's happy.

Anonymous said...

Some of you are seriously missing the point here.

What Lucas did is much more reaching, and INMO criminal.

According to the law, even as a preserved farm in Farmland Preservation, the owner of that land (now Lucas) is allowed to build a house, or even a mansion of a house on that land, as long as he still meets the legal farm requirements, which as we all know in this state don't require much - just ask Ellen Karcher and her 7 Christmas Trees.

Sounds to me like he can spend $42,000 for land worth $1.3 million, then get about $650,000 in taxpayer money from the state as a "donation" for preserving that $42,000 land he paid for worth $1.3 million, and he can use that money to build the biggest house in Manalapan for himself.

And, scary enough - its all legal.

Looks like i'll be tearing up my lawn next spring and planting some soy beans. Apparently their worth their weight in gold in here in Manalapan.

"congrats to da squad for showing it's non-partisan. now when will it ever take a position that DOESN'T agree with what Stu Moskovitz wants to see happen?"

When he does something worth criticizing. As the last honest mayor of Manalapan, he never has. :)

Anonymous said...

Yep, looks like Lucas will soon be
getting a big fat check straight out of the NJ taxpayers overdrawn account. If the Republican Party in Manalapan does not do something to save the ticket, they will have squandered what was up to two days ago, an easy path to victory. That assumption has been shattered and all bets are off. This is certainly a dark day for Manalapan's public image.

It's really funny to listen to people surprised by the fact that Andrew has no ethics. LOL. Where have they been?
1. He's thrown every one of his running mates under the bus when it suited his political interest.
2. He built an office for his financial consultant business above his parents' garage, in a residential zone, without a building permit and without a zoning board application.
3. He rebuilt the second floor of his house without a building permit.
4. He ran for office in Manalapan while living in Freehold.
5. He voted on litigation in which he was a defendant.
6. He voted to censure Susan Cohen for telling the truth about the litigation to nowhere, when he was INVOLVED as a defendant in that case and was ALREADY ORDERED by the COURT to not have anything to do with the case on behalf of the Township.
7. He tried to have someone sign their name to a letter to the editor at the News Transcript and stupidly got caught by accidentally sending the email to the editor instead of just the person who was supposed to sign it.
8. He took a ride with the developer of the Village Center, in the developer's SUV to Trenton to fight for the shopping center while he was serving on the Township Committee.
... there's sooooo much more. This guy doesn't have an ethical bone in his body. And you're surprised about the latest bit? That he's using township funds that would have put other properties in farmland preservation to pay him for his non-developable land instead? What's next? Are you going to be shocked that there's gambling in Casablanca?

We finally get an honest mayor in Manalapan for the first time in many years and what does Michelle Roth and her cronies do? They try to discredit him with lies and phony accusations. Andrew Lucas has not broken any laws. He is a fine upstanding citizen of Manalapan, a farmer, family man and a proud son of Manalapan.

Anonymous said...

Can this really be true ? The mayor paid $45K in back taxes to purchase 90 acres of property that is valued at over 1 million dollars? Then has the town vote on allowing him farmland preservation funds which will put more than 1 million dollars in NJ tax payer's $$ in his pocket. For a $45k investment? Please don't tell me it's perfectly legally so that makes it ok.
Sounds like it's time to bring on the subpoena's and follow the money.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't know the legalities of what your Mayor did, but I know here in Union County we have had our fair share of corrput politicians. I think we should all follow Andy Lucas's lead.

1. I'm going to start planting soybeans.

2. I'm going to become a corrupt politician.

3. I'm going to align myself with other corrupt political people who will allow me to line my pockets and make a quick million dollars.

But before I do any of that I'm moving to a town where the people are dumber than toast and will allow me to get away with all of this.

It would have to be kosher.

The fact this came out 30 days before election day is definitely fishy. Somebody here said that maybe the Democrats knew and sat on the information. Maybe so.

"da truth" is that what Andrew did here may actually not be illegal as far as what the League of Municipalities lawyer said. However ethically he more than crossed that line. It almost seems like this land deal for him was some type of political reward, and if that is the case than it must be investigated to see if any laws were broken by any party involved.

As a voter, to me Andrew Lucas is no different from Sharpe James or Wayne Bryant or that mayor from Hoboken who's going to jail. To me he will now be remembered as a corrupt politician who got caught and will do anything to get out of being caught. If Jordan is smart he will rebuke Andrew, or he may be looked upon as someone who's OK with the smell of corruption hanging around him.

I thought better of both of them. Right now, not anymore and they both lost my vote.

Anonymous said...

Andrew, do the right thing now and resign. You got your $1 million dollars in your pocket. You set up the vote the way you wanted it. You've just set you and your family up for life financially. Do the right thing and resign before you drag the whole Republican party down with you.

Booooooo - It's me again Andrew the ghost of Joe Locricchio. While I'm here enjoying the day in heaven with some angels we see you're going through hell on earth. That's what happens when you make deals with the devil.

Now do the right thing and repent by taking some of those alledged ill gotten gains from this land deal and put some in a college fund for my kids. I initially got you elected that put you in a position to get this million dollar deal so all the angels up here in heaven are all in agreement. No need to consult with the devil you already know his answer.

I not convinced what Lucas did was illegal.

Absolutely stupid. YES.

Manipulative. YES.

Did he destroy the public trust. YES.

Should he resign for the best of the Republican party. YES.

Should he be investigated. YES.

He made his million dollar bed. Now he may have to sleep in it.

"Rumors are flying that Roth will be meeting this coming week with the U.S. Attorney's office. I hope Mayor Lucus doesn't lose more of his hair over this."

I think the biggest worry Andrew should have is not what the US Attorney can do to him. It's what Roth and Moskovitz both have up their sleeves next because you know this may not be the first unethical lapse of judgement of his.

Many bloggers would have probably said this $%# deserves to go to jail. Nice job making it clear. Obviously this blogger knows his/her law. Ethically stupid, extremely poor judgment, smells crooked, but may not be illegal.

A woman saw Andrew Lucas lying in the gutter next to a big fat pig. When walking closer she looked down and said "When you associate evil you become evil." "You are known by the company you keep!"

Immediately, Andrew shook himself and looked over. To his surprise he watched as the pig got up and walked away!

Chris, now is the time to get that ethics board to act on the 3 year old complaint against Andrew Lucas. They failed to act and now Lucas is voting for his own self interests, again.

CHRISTY, INVESTIGATE THIS CROOKED REPUBLICAN!!!!! Go to the attorney generals office. Launch the investigation BEFORE the election. Show that you won't associate with a corrupt politician!

Here's what I think, take it for what you like:

I don't think that what Andrew Lucas did was wholly criminal. Stupid maybe. Get rich quick definitely. Shows he's in bed with developers very likely. A tool of a political party I'd have to agree.

I will admit as a Manalapan resident after finding out about this (which is why I read this blog) that I will not vote Republican in Manalapan. While I have lost confidence in Rush Holt, when it comes to my local government I will veer over to the other column this year.

And yes I am very disappointed in my state and county government for not announcing they will investigate this. While it may be legal (I don't know for sure) I would like to know.

Yikes! My first visit to your blog. Da truth is its very difficult to take anything you write seriously because of this "da" affectation. New Jersey people don't even use "da" for "the". (Maybe people from the Bronx used it in the fifties, but nobody I know or have ever known) If you're going for a Joisey tone, try using phonetic spelling or dropping some of the last syllables, using authentic vernacular phrasing or anything other than da. Duh. It comes across tiresome and as phony as hell and that is the truth.
